Visual journey into a semester of MoFE

In this blog post I’ll be visually representating the journey taken by PBJ throughout this semester while working on our garment.

Initially when we decided to finalize our concept of a “lab coat shield” we acquired inspiration from the following images on WGSN:

After which, we illustrated our very first design, which was as the following:

After the illustration we got a much clearer idea of the direction we were heading at and created another style and silhouette moodboard:

At this stage, we also started coming up with initial fabric concepts:

As well as developed our logo and typography:

To enhance our initial design, we added some more design elements to the garment and created a range of garments with each one having a different design element to decide upon:

Upon careful examination, we decided the garment looked too complicated with too many functional elements and decided to remove the detachable hood and some of the pocketing elements, which is when we came up with these illustrations:

Followed by even more careful consideration and decided on the final illustration, which is this:

The following two weeks saw us pattern-making the toile and the pockets:

With multiple rounds at the fabric store trying to decide the final fabric:

At this stage in our semester, we have developed our toile:

And have started sewing the final fabric to make our garment, these images record our progress last week:
